    This is a fantastic tale, sort of a combination of Gulliver's Travels, Alice in Wonderland and, of course, Rapunzel. It's not really fair of me to mentioned those other books, because this story has it's own flavour, setting and characters.

    The conundrum concerns Melisande's hair which is under an enchantment. The more it is cut, the quicker it will grow. Only a very clever hero can sort this out!

    Well worth a read and beautifully illustrated. Also quite funny (humourous) in parts.

    The King and Queen decide not to invite fairies for their princess's birth ceremony and thus get cursed that their princess be bald. And so she gets bald. Later the King passes one un-utilized wish, granted to him by his Godmother, to his daughter. And the princess wishes "I wish I had golden hair a yard long and that it would grow an inch every day, and grow twice as fast every time it was cut." And the trouble starts, and the prince comes to rescue to bring an usual happy end.
    Very unusual and funny fairy tale with some maths and logic, the logic by which prince solves the trouble after trial and error (a big error I would say). Nesbit at her best !
    The superb illustrations by P.J. Lynch makes the book a treasure.
    Recommended age for self reading : 9+

    Ich liebe diese Geschichte und die Zeichnungen gefallen mir ausgesprochen gut. Sehr akkurat gezeichnet mit viel Liebe zum Detail, nicht mit Stereotypen am Computer generiert sondern wirklich mit Leben gefüllt.
    Die Übersetzung finde ich ausgesprochen gelungen, wobei mein Englisch allerdings nicht so gut ist, dass ich die Qualität vollumfänglich beurteilen kann.
    Es handelte sich um ein gebraucht erworbenes Buch, da dieses leider nicht mehr hergestellt wird. Es war aüßerlich in einem sehr guten Zustand, nur leider hat der Vorbesitzer auf der letzten Seite sehr intensiv einen Stempel und das Stempelkissen bemüht. Aber man konnte trotzdem noich alles lesen.
