Jla Justice League of America: Salvation Run ペーパーバック – 2008/9/16

5つ星のうち4.7 16個の評価

One distant prison planet. Forty metahuman psychopaths. Some thought banishing these villains -- Flash's Rogues, Metallo, Vandal Savage, Killer Croc, the rest of the worst -- would stem the recent violence on Earth. But Luthor seeks escape. And even withJoker's followers embracing the primal violence of the strange land, the war these two madmen will bring to one another's camps -- murder, betrayal, ape-on-ape violence -- is still less frightening than what's suddenly appeared in the sky.

A real fun read that had me laughing out loud throughout. The super villains are captured and sent away to a prison planet for the rest of their lives. Lex Luthor doesn't plan on rebuilding his own planet and immediately begins to coordinate and escape. of course getting such a large group of unpredictable and moraless villains was never going to be easy, especially when the Joker is involved, as the two create two factions the future looks bleak for all especially as the planet itself is not what it seems.

The story is extremely fun and contains the largest cast of super villains ive ever seen. Some just get little cameos or one liners but amidst the chaos its great to see familiar faces. The humour itself comes mainly from the Joker, as he violently makes his mark almost immediately killing allies and enemies alike, also watching him react to Kid Karnevil made me chuckle as he shrugs him off while the kid sits there lovingly making threats to kill him to prove his worthiness.

It also makes for a great character piece as we see how individuals would act in this situation, Vandal Savage, Lex Luthor and Joker all have very different ideas on what to make of their situation and its interesting to see on who lines up behind them when it comes to the crunch. People have commented on it being highly unlikely that the villains would line up behind "powerless" leaders like Lex and Joker, But Luthor has always been the master of manipulation and charismatic trickery, he inspired his home country to elect him as president so inspiring the leaderless crooks into lining up behind him shouldn't be to difficult, Joker has always been a magnet for madness and become almost iconic amongst the Super villains, They are just as surprised as anyone that he has survived as long as he has and combined with his violence, unpredictability and willingness to kill absolutely anyone, the villains fear him and therefore line up behind him.

With plenty of deaths, humour and ape on ape violence i would definitely recommend this book. It may not be everyones cup of tea as it does come across nonsensical at certain points but i still award it 5 stars as i did love the book and is worth it weight in entertainment value. Also everyone loves the villains, they always get the cool costumes and gear and here is a book full of nothing but just that.

5つ星のうち4.0 I usually prefer my villains with a side of heroes whipping their butts, but this was a delightful stray to the dark side.

This sooooo didn't sound like my cup of tea, and as a result, I put off ordering this graphic novel for more than two years. But eventually I broke down and ordered it for my collection, and was pleasantly surprised. I don't generally like villains, except for what they contribute to a great story. So what happens when you take ALL villains, with only the slightest appearance of a super hero, and ship them off to a prison planet? (Takron Galtos this is NOT! LOL) The basic premise is that the recent rash of wide spread evil committed by super villains has left those in charge just completely fed up. The result is to round them up in stages and ship them across the galaxy to a true hell hole of a planet. (There's a delightful twist, but I can't go into details without spoiling it.) Almost the entirety of the graphic novel takes place revolving around the villains as they try to survive the planet, and each other. It's unclear why Catwoman is there, but she is, and that leads to some surprising moments with the ONLY hero to be in the picture, which is one of the big guns of the Justice League. (Again, can't go into more details without spoiling it.) All in all it's an intriguing social experiment, and there's a LOT of the different loyalties within the villain dynamic butting heads and fighting to be in charge. Sturges clearly has a delightful time writing Luthor and Joker, and I was surprised to find myself reading through the whole thing in one sitting. Don't get me wrong, I don't think I'll ever be able to completely go all Dark Side and Lord of the Flies, but for what it was (Which is an above average, enjoyable story.), it just worked. I really enjoyed it, and I think if you give it a chance, you won't be disappointed either.
    Thanks for your time folks.
    Sincerely, R.A. McDowell
