    A creative love letter to the Doom Patrol, this series was sadly unrecognized .
    Matthew Clark pours everything he has into this and this is amongst the best works of Giffen.
    My only complaint is that I'm not really a fan of seeing guns on Robotman as I think he works far better as a sort of Ben Grimm character for the DCU, but it's a minor nit pick .

    The Doom Patrol has always been a fringe element of the DC Universe. Fighting their own villains, dealing with personal and global weirdness, they have never been part of the same world as the Justice League. Even their bridge into the Titans (Beast Boy) has largely been forgotten.

    But they have remained, in several different incarnations, because the story of superpowered people who overcome serious setbacks is compelling. It's just hard, some times, to come up with things for them to do that don't wander into some very strange real estate indeed.

    This reworking of the Patrol comes from Keith Giffen and he does a fine job updating the original team and adding some weird new team mates to the mix. This one's worth a read because it preserves the weirdness factor as well as the rough mental/emotional lives of the team.

    Definitely worth a read!

    I really really wanted to like this book. Having read the originals, Garad Way and Morrion's run, which I think is one of my favorite comic book runs EVER, I was shocked how how much the ball was totally dropped on this.

    The dialog is embarrassing and cringe worthy. The characters are whiny, self loathing and just kind of heartless jerks. Yes, you could say The Doom Patrol have always had these traits, but it's handled in a way that you'd think it was written by an Angsty Gen X Teen Goth, who's mad at their Step-Father Todd.
    The art is decent but forgetful. However I really liked the updated design of the characters, especially
    Negative Man.

    Again I really really wanted to like this book, I mean, it's The Doom Patrol! And I'll say, if you like the team, you should check it out just to give you some connection to what they've been up to. They are great characters and they should be read and given recognition. READ DOOM PATROL! But know that this is a low point point.

    I can only thank Giffen for bringing back DOOM PATROL. Though the story is a little bit confusing it is interisting to notice how Giffen deals with the history of DOOM PATROL and its peculiarities as DC's weirdest heroes.
